Planning for birth is important. But so is planning for what comes next…life with a newborn!
This workbook will get you thinking beyond your birth and will help you plan for a positive start to parenthood.
I remember being pregnant with my first and assuming that once my baby arrived, I would simply carry on being myself…except with a baby in tow. I was wrong!
While I had prepared for birth, I had completely underestimated the challenges inherent in those first few weeks and months. I began motherhood feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted.
I didn’t know where to turn for help and I really didn’t even know what I actually needed help with!
Giving birth is just the beginning.
After learning this the hard way, I decided to become a postpartum doula so I could give other mothers the solid support I so desperately needed (even though I didn’t know that is what I needed)!
I believe that every mother deserves a postpartum that is full of care, compassion, and is considerate of the colossal physical, mental, and emotional changes she is experiencing. I know that you believe that too and I hope this workbook will help make that a reality for you!
This workbook is 81 pages of guidance, worksheets, prompts, checklists, and recipes.
It covers the physiology of postpartum, baby basics, support, rest, nutrition, breastfeeding, and connection to your self and to your community.
It is basically everything I wish that I had known prior to becoming a parent as well as everything I have learned over six years of working as a postpartum doula.
But don’t think that you need to read or complete every page in order to ensure you have a positive postpartum. The workbook is designed to get you thinking about what life with a baby will be like and what you can do to ensure you have a positive transition to parenthood.
Take what is helpful, leave the rest.
You might work through it once and feel satisfied and supported. You might work through it a few times before your baby arrives and a few times after. You might leave some questions and come back to them later…or never.
Just like with parenting – do your best and aim to be fulfilled as possible by the process!
This workbook is appropriate for those of you who are pregnant, who are in the thick of postpartum, who are preparing for life with your first baby, or who are preparing for life with your third!
The workbook comes as a downloadable PDF which you can print out or work through on your computer.
