FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: TAP THE ARROW
As soon as you can slot it in! Between 25 and 35 weeks is the sweet spot, as that’ll give you plenty of time to practise the techniques (and get confident using them). If you’re unsure about the timing, I’d be happy to chat with you about your options.
Your birth partner doesn’t have to be your actual partner. They can be your mum, sister, friend, or a doula – whomever you trust to support you through the process. And to be honest, partners often get more out of the classes than you do! That’s because you’ll probably start out understanding at least a little about the birthing process, while they’ll go from limited to no knowledge, to feeling comfortable and confident in their role. And if they need to miss a session or two, not to worry – we can usually find a way for them to catch up!
Absolutely! The course is designed to help you feel in control, regardless of how you give birth. We talk about preferences, interventions, inductions, caesareans and how to make the decisions that are right for you.
As a registered nurse, I’m very familiar with the medical system, and can guide you through the confusion of hospital policies and standard recommendations.
It is not natural birth or bust! My goal is for you to feel proud about your birth…no matter how you gave birth! Everyone is approaching birth with different expectations and everyone will make different decisions regarding their care. It is about making the decisions that are best for you as an individual…and knowing that you had your best possible birth! Plus the hypnobirthing tools can be used in all births.
Not at all – especially not the way I teach it. My background in nursing, understanding of physiology, and obsession with evidence underpin the entire course. My goal is to ensure you finish the class with realistic expectations and practical tools. Even though it’s called “hypnobirthing”, there’s not much “hypno” at all!
