Congratulations on your pregnancy! And thank you for your interest in Hypnobirthing Brisbane.
With your baby growing beautifully, safe inside your belly, you have begun a very special journey. A journey towards birth. A journey towards motherhood.
It’s likely that you have a whole list of questions about pregnancy, labour, and birth. But no answers. Perhaps you have a vision of your ideal birth experience. But you aren’t entirely sure how to make this a reality. You might have heard of hypnobirthing. But you aren’t really sure what it entails.
Hypnobirthing is both a philosophy of birthing and a set of proven, evidence-based techniques. The hypno part of hypnobirthing refers to the self-hypnosis that we use to let go of fears and to condition ourselves to release endorphins during birth. When a mother and her birth companion are able to approach birth without fear and with knowledge, good support, and tools they are confident using…then their birthing can be a positive and empowering experience.
I love teaching the Hypnobirthing Australia™ program.
As a nurse, I appreciate that it is a scientific, evidence-based course. Information about the hormones of birth and the physiology of labour demystify birth and allow you to trust your body. My familiarity with the medical system also means that I can help you interpret birthing policies and procedures, translate information from your caregivers, and understand risk.
As a woman who has birthed both in a hospital with a private OB and at home with a private midwife, I am familiar with the challenges and rewards of different settings and different caregivers. I know that you will benefit from the Hypnobirthing Australia™ program no matter where you birth and I appreciate which aspects of hypnobirthing will be most useful for your chosen birthing journey.
As an American expat, I realise how important support is! Throughout pregnancy, during birth, and while you find your feet as a mother…it really does take a village. I have worked hard to establish a beautiful community of practitioners and mothers. And I would love to introduce you to them. From preconception through to waving goodbye at the school gates, I offer support and nurturing connections.
Having had two beautiful hypnobirths, Hypnobirthing Australia™ is a program I completely believe in.
When I was first pregnant, I was apprehensive about birth. I was curious about the process and the sensations but I was also filled with self-doubt and fear. Well-meaning friends had shared traumatic birth stories, my nursing colleagues told me to just get the epidural. I knew I didn’t want interventions leading to trauma to be my birth journey. But, as it seemed that they were the norm, I was unsure how to achieve the birth that I wanted. A birth that was physiological, calm, and full of love.
I turned to hypnobirthing.
The evidence based information about the hormones of birth and the physiology of labour helped me replace self-doubt with self-determination.
The mindset, relaxation strategies, breathing techniques, and guided meditations helped me replace fear with confidence.
And one of the best aspects of hypnobirthing was that my partner also felt sure of himself…sure of his role and of his ability to support me.
Six years later, I feel honoured to be able to help other women achieve the birth they desire.
I will listen to your questions.
I will provide you with evidence-based information.
I will teach you the techniques you need to make your vision of birth a reality.
I will enable you to make informed choices and to advocate for yourself and for your baby.
Within you is the ability to birth your baby calmly and with confidence.
I will help you realise this ability.
You will finish your hypnobirthing course trusting your body, trusting your baby, trusting birth.
While class details and my qualifications aren’t nearly as exciting as anticipating welcoming your baby, they are essential…so here you go!

In 2017, I am offering a FREE birth debrief with every Hypnobirthing Australia™ class.
In this session we will talk about your birth experience, you will have the opportunity to share the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the ugly.
I will help guide your physical and emotional recovery, allowing you to process and to celebrate your birth.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss breastfeeding, sleeping (or lack of sleeping), and any other general adjustment issues.
And if you just want someone to hold your baby while you shower, I am happy to oblige!
Having a healthy baby is important but it isn’t all that matters, you matter too.
Processing your birth can help ease your transition to motherhood.
And it isn’t just traumatic births that need a birth debrief, even mothers who have had beautiful births need the opportunity to share their story, recount their experience, have their questions answered.
The free birth debrief can be before the hypnobirthing class (if you have had a previous birth that you would like to discuss) or after your birth.
For the session, I will come to visit you in the comfort of your own home.
A birth debrief is generally $120.00 but you get it for FREE!
In addition to being a Certified Hypnobirthing Australia™ Practitioner, I am also a Registered Nurse and a qualified Postpartum Doula.
I have bachelor degrees in Psychology and Nursing and a graduate certificate in Professional Education.
But most of my experience stems from being a mother of two!
After my first (private OB, hospital setting) hypnobirth, I felt so in awe of myself, my body, and my baby.
My second baby was also a hypnobaby, this time birthed at home with a private midwife by my side.
Believing that every woman should have the opportunity have a positive and empowering birth, I became a Hypnobirthing Australia™ Certified Practitioner in 2013.
I have been happily and passionately supporting mothers ever since!
After teaching hypnobirthing for three years, I realised that the one aspect I didn’t love was saying good bye and good luck at the end of the course!
I knew the couples I taught would be well prepared for their birth.
But birth is just the beginning.
I wanted to be able to provide guidance in those first critical weeks and support throughout that first year.
In 2016 I became a Postpartum Doula.
I can now not only help you achieve a calm birth, but also approach motherhood with confidence.
If you are interested in guidance from pregnancy, to birth, and beyond, please contact me to schedule a free consultation.
I can help you begin your mothering journey with a positive birth, to navigate those first crucial weeks with confidence, and to discover how to balance the needs of your baby with your own needs as a mother and as a woman.
