Being a mother is responsibility that is never ending.
I still call my mother on a daily basis.  Sometimes I want something specific from her…but usually I simply want to talk to her.  She’s my mom.
I know it sounds obvious that our babies are forever.
But what isn’t obvious is how unprepared we are for what might be considered our life’s work.

I remember how I felt when Charlie was a newborn.
At the time, my husband had a demanding job.  A few hours after Charlie was born, he went back to working twelve hour days, six days a week.
I acutely felt that it was just the two of us.
Me and my baby.
All day.
Every day.
I remember desperately wanting someone to talk to…someone I could share the details of my day with.

The Chalkboard Method for Mothers

Gratitude is one of those concepts that I think is (unfortunately) beginning to feel overdone.
Like meditation.
And self care.
And eating sugar free.

At some point, these approaches that are meant to inspire self improvement, feel tedious.
They become simply another thing to add to your to do list: meal planning, grocery shopping, make dentist appointment, practice gratitude.
